Renzo Buttazzo

He was born in 1963 in San Cesario, in the province of Lecce, where he lives and works. His passion for Lecce stone has matured over time and is the result of “primordial” suggestions, which he considers eternal. That is the lymph that nourishes every form, artfully moulded to the tiniest detail with sure hands and eclectic genius. Each piece (lamps, tables, chairs or paintings) is a sculpture, which “empties the full” (in light) and courts the shadows. His lines are simple, on ductile, soft and sinuous material, known in its depths before becoming light! Creation for him is a challenge that overcomes fear after awareness, in a continuous and absolutely insatiable quest. Always daring, beyond the limits. The study of the material does not translate into mere workmanship, but is interpretation, born from an instinctive idea, clear and bursting in the mind, which almost obsesses and is just waiting to “be”.
His creations are produced in limited series and can be reproduced in specific sizes to suit all kinds of living requirements.
His works range from sculptures to luminous bodies, from furniture to sculptural walls, helping to improve the possibilities of using this material.
He has received numerous awards and collaborations in Italy and abroad, which have helped define him as one of the most innovative artists in the field of stone materials.
